San Lorenzo vs Atletico Tucuman
San Lorenzo managed their first league win last weekend even though coach Claudio Biaggio fielded a completely alternative XI. The team beat Patronato 3-2 at home, with Franco Mussis netting the winner in the 88th minute on his return to the pitch after one year out injured. That result means El Ciclon are now on seven points in the Superliga, having collected five of them in three games at Pedro Bidegain Stadium. On Tuesday, San Lorenzo lost 0-2 at Nacional from Uruguay in the Copa Sudamericana and they were knocked out because they had conceded a goal at home in a 3-1 win in the 1st leg.
Atletico Tucuman continue to live a dream in the Superliga. El Decano remain sitting in second spot on 14 points following a convincing away victory over San Martin SJ 3-1 last Sunday. Atletico are still unbeaten in the league having won the last four games and that remarkable campaign allowed them to forget relegation threats, which seemed to worry them before the season started. The side claimed two wins and a draw on the road so far.
San Lorenzo has conceded in every game this season (that’s 11 games including league, Argentina Cup and Copa Sudamericana) and even though Atletico will use an all reserves lineup because next Tuesday they go to Brazil to play the Copa Libertadores Quarterfinal, it won’t be a surprise if they manage to score. Open game expected and the totals line seems to be too low.
