Boca Juniors have thrashed Tigre 4-1 at home two weeks ago with an alternative XI, in spite of having conceded first. That victory allowed them to break a three-game winless run in the Superliga (two draws, one defeat). El Xeneize accumulated 18 points so far (11 behind leaders Racing Club), having postponed their away game at San Martin SJ last weekend. At home, Boca are on three league games without defeat, having won two of them. Last Sunday, they drew 2-2 with River Plate at La Bombonera in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores’ finals.
Patronato wasted a clear opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone last Monday, when they drew 3-3 at home with San Martin Tucuman after holding a 3-0 lead at the break. They are now one point behind Belgrano (who are safe) in the respective table. The team from Parana accumulated only nine points so far, but five of them were claimed in the last three games (one win, two draws). On a sorry note, Patronato managed a single point from 15 in offer on the road, having drawn with Union Santa Fe two weeks ago.
Boca Juniors are clearly the better side here, even if coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto rotate his players. Home win.
